Preserving History Networking Seminar

Wednesday, June 7th | 12:00-4:30 PM

The Cedar Lake Historical Association invites you to an afternoon at the lake. Join professionals and volunteers from preservation and historical organizations to learn, brainstorm, and network. This year’s event will begin with plated lunch at the Lighthouse Restaurant followed by roundtable sessions at The Museum at Lassen’s Resort. Feel free to invite colleagues from across the Calumet region. Cost is $35 per person.

Roundtable Facilitators

George Hanlin (Grantwriting/Funding):

George serves as Indiana Humanities’ director of grants, helping to connect organizations across Indiana with funding for public humanities programs such as exhibitions, presentations, workshops and reading/discussion programs. He received his bachelor’s degree in journalism and Spanish from Indiana University and his master’s degree in nonprofit management from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. George will lead a roundtable demystifying the grant writing process and exploring tips for making your case to funders. > Meet George

Christopher (Kip) Young (Exhibit Production):

Kip is the President and CEO of KalBlue Group, a visual communication firm in Kalamazoo, Michigan, focused on helping customers bring their brand visions to life. Kip has an A.A. in CAD and Graphic Design from Glen Oaks Community College and over 30 years experience in his field. KalBlue was the production firm hired to develop The Museum at Lassen’s Resort exhibits in 2021. Kip will lead participants through the gallery and expand on the use of innovative materials to elevate exhibit design and inspire your next project. > Discover KalBlue Group

Barb Mack (Tourism):

Barb is the Manager of Partnership and Development for the South Shore Convention & Visitors Authority. She has been in the industry since 1995 and currently works with and promotes the numerous hotels, restaurants and attractions along the southern shores of Lake Michigan. She holds a BS in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing from Elmira College (New York). Barb will offer insights on regional tourism trends and how to position your organization as a historic attraction. > Explore the South Shore CVA

A luncheon at The Lighthouse Restaurant at 12:00 PM will be followed by roundtable discussions at The Museum at Lassen’s Resort. Cost is $35 per person. Choose from Pasta Primavera with Italian Sausage, Chicken Marsala, or Pasta Primavera (vegetarian) for your entree during the checkout process.  Register online or contact Julie Zasada with questions at 219-390-9423.
